Capsule Collection inspired by my two medical conditions: "Legg Calve Perthes" and "Scoliosis". "Legg Calve Perthes" is a childhood hip condition that impacts the blood supply of the femur head, thus deteriorating the "ball and socket" transition leading to pain primarily in the groin and developing premature arthritis. In the U.S. "Roughly 5 in 100,000 people" (Perthes. org) making it a rare and less-discussed medical condition. On the other hand, "Scoliosis" is a common abnormal curvature of the spine, with roughly "3 million new cases every year" (John Hopkins University).
Through the lens of Fashion Product Accessories, I created this collection so it could hopefully educate the general public about these medical conditions. But most importantly, I wanted a creative outlet to portray something so chronically painful, beautiful.

The heel development for my shoes consisted of air-dry clay, foam core, and laser-cutting on acrylic. I wanted the heel to mimic the spinal cord while the uppers illustrated LCP. I have designed three different shoes: Claire, Claudia, and Cece, with the latter being produced as a simplified version of the two former: I hand-painted and carved the uppers on kid calf skin, and sock linings with red lamb skin.
For the body jewelry, I wanted it to adhere the natural curvature of my spine so the back view comprises of cascading acrylic vertebrae pieces. The front wraps my upper torso with a complimentary necklace comprised of even smaller pieces. With the additional vertebrae acrylic bits, I created more accessories: bracelet, earrings, and key chain.
In response to COVID-19, I created a traditional surgical mask out of muslin with a LCP illustration.
